Retaining industry workers, and hospitals are two social costs the Midlands could face without proper future infrastructure.
That's the view of Irish Rural Link CEO, Ballycumber's Seamus Boland following a new report from the Department of Finance.
They're projecting Ireland's population could near 7,600,000 by 2065 in a high case scenario.
