Two doctors from a midlands surgery have been arrested in relation to an alleged fraud in excess of €300k.
The Irish Independent is reporting that the two GPs, men in their 40s and 50s, are suspected of making fraudulent medical claims to the HSE, including applications for two treatments over 60 times the national average.
Claims were also lodged for multiple patient visits when the patient may have only attended the practice once.
Further arrests are expected to be made however the case is not thought to be connected to organised crime.
