€4m Going Towards Improving Housing For Older And Disabled People In The Midlands

The funding is being provided by both central and local government.

€4 million is going towards improving the homes of older people and those with a disability in the midlands.

80 per cent of the Adaptation Fund is provided by the exchequer, with the remainder coming from local authorities.

The largest allocation of €1.4 million is going to Westmeath, with €1.3 million for Offaly and €1.2 million for Laois.

Grants of up to €30,000 are available for works to make homes more suitable for people with a disability, up to €8,000 to assist older people with repairs or improvements, and up to €6,000 for mobility aids.
