Renting EVs and e-bikes is a feasible option for most people, according to a Westmeath Green Party councillor.
The Minister for Transport has announced plans to have 200 community hubs with such facilities in towns and villages next year.
Once registered, people will be able to rent a bike or car for a fee for long and short journeys.
