There's been a rise in EV registrations across the midlands.
Electric cars have become the most popular choice for new car buyers here for the first time.
New analysis by DoneDeal Cars shows battery electric vehicles now account for just over 26% of new registrations this year, ahead of hybrids.
Laois saw a rise of 96% EV registrations this year compared to last year, in Offaly the figured went up by 95%, meanwhile in Westmeath there's been a rise of 90%.
Nationally, a nearly 9,700 new EVs were registered in July alone - a record for the Irish market.
Paddy Comyn Head of content and communications for DoneDeal outlines what's driving the shift:
The figures of passenger cars purchased in the Midlands has risen also, in Laois it rose by 8%, in Westmeath it climbed by 7% and Offaly seen an increase of 5%.
