Uisce Éireann crews are still working to repair the issue in Portlaoise on the Dublin Road and restore supply to affected customers in surrounding areas.
Repairs are expected to be completed later today, it takes two to three hours after repairs are completed for normal supply to return.
Traffic leaving Portlaoise on the Dublin Road is being diverted at the Hospital on a detour as delays are expected.
Motorists are advised to please consider an alternative route, where possible.
