The hearing takes place in Maynooth.
Enoch Burke has arrived at a Teaching Council inquiry into allegations of professional misconduct.
The case centres on complaints arising from Mr Burke’s repeated attendance at Wilson’s Hospital School in Westmeath, despite court orders barring him from the premises.
Today’s fitness-to-teach hearing in Maynooth, County Kildare, is expected to be adjourned after the Teaching Council agreed to facilitate a number of preliminary applications.
A significant security presence is in place at the venue ahead of this morning’s proceedings.
