Enoch Burke Released After Over 700 Days In Prison

He failed in his bid to appeal his dismissal from a Westmeath school.

Enoch Burke has been released from prison after spending over 700 days behind bars for breaching court orders to stay away from the grounds of a Westmeath school.

The news comes after the former school teacher failed in his bid to appeal his dismissal from the Wilson's Hospital School.

He was suspended by the school after confronting its then-principal over the school's instruction to address a student by their chosen pronouns.

A judgement on fines for Mr Burke's continued contempt of court is expected to be made in the coming weeks.
