It's been reported the Health Minister will make the announcement today.
A number of extra beds are to be opened in the Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore to alleviate pressure on the emergency department.
Today's Irish Times reports the Health Minister is to announce 190 new beds for a number of hospitals - including an initial 83 to be opened in Tullamore, Letterkenny, Waterford, Cork, Limerick and Dublin's children's hospitals in the coming weeks.
Minister Simon Harris says the National Treatment Purchase Fund is continuing to engage with hospital groups to finalise the details of the additional bed capacity.
