Failure To Clear Patients At Weekend Leading To Increased Trolley Numbers Says Health Minister

702 people were waiting on trolleys around the country today.

The Health Minister says some hospitals are failing to clear their weekend patients, leading to an increase in trolley numbers.

Stephen Donnelly says he has met with the HSE to ensure the right rostering is in place for the next few weekends.

21 patients are waiting for a hospital beds around the midlands today - 13 of those are in Mullingar, with the remaining eight in Portlaoise.

Nationally, that figure is 702.
