Family Carers Ireland are calling for the benefit to be increased in the next budget.

The Family Carer's Allowance of €224 is 'unfair and unsustainable.'

That's according to Family Carers Ireland who are calling for the benefit to be increased to minimum of €325 in the next budget.

The Tullamore based organisation is also highlighting the inconsistencies in staffing across family carer supports and services nationwide.

Head of Communications Catherine Cox says that their accessibility can be a 'postcode lottery.'
