The Irish Cattle and Sheep Farmers’ Association is expecting a shortage of beef on supermarket shelves in the coming days.
The independent chairman of talks in the beef dispute is expected to appear before the Oireachtas agriculture committee later.
It comes as unofficial protests by farmers are continuing outside up to 17 meat factories.
Meat Industry Ireland says some plants are now fully blockaded, and that it's affecting beef exports.
