It follows a vote among representatives at their annual general meeting.
Fianna Fail will have the top seat at the table of both municipal districts in Westmeath county council.
It's after councillors Liam McDaniel and Aoife Davitt were elected as Mayors of the Athlone-Moate and Mullingar-Kinnegad districts.
They replace their outgoing party colleagues Aengus O'Rourke and Bill Collentine in the positions.
Both decisions were taken during yesterday's annual general meeting of representatives.
