Minister Kevin Boxer Moran has stepped back from the case since becoming Minister.
A Fine Gael councillor is asking the OPW Minister to halt plans for an IPAS centre in Athlone.
Minster Kevin Boxer Moran was originally part of a High Court action being pursued with four other local councillors to stop the centre going ahead to accommodate 1,000 men.
He's backed out of the case since becoming Minister.
Fine Gael Cllr John Dolan says Minister Moran needs to find another solution as this one is not fair to Athlone or the asylum seekers involved:
