A flood alleviation plan is under construction in Athlone.
It's expected the completion of seven flooding schemes currently in construction will protect 1,800 homes.
Among the schemes currently under construction is the Athlone flood alleviation plan, which has been subject to an investment of €114m.
That development is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
