A former Garda detective says there needs to be better services in place for prisoners released from jail early due to overcrowding.
It follows the release of Alison Chawke less than a month into her two years and two months sentence under the community return scheme.
Ms Chawke was jailed in July alongside her brother Charlie, over the assault of two men at a luxury hotel in November 2023.
She had been detained in the female wing of Limerick Prison, operating at 157% of capacity today with 56 beds for 88 prisoners
