Former Westmeath And Offaly Rep Elected INTO President

She's originally from Roscommon.

Carmel Browne is the new president of the Irish National Teachers’ Organisation.

She's set to succeed Dorothy McGinley in the role.

She says "increasing diversity in the teaching profession in Ireland to better represent our diverse communities is a particularly important goal".

The Roscommon native previously represented Westmeath, Offaly, Kildare, Longford and Meath.
