Professor Vincent Cunnane will retire on January 31st next year, after leading TUS since October 2021.
The university now operates across campuses in Limerick, Athlone, Ennis, Clonmel and Thurles.
Its Governing Body will start the process of recruiting Professor Cunnane's successor.
