The number of tenants in receipt of the Housing Assistance Payments has seen a fall over 4% since 2021.
More than four in five local electoral areas in the country saw a fall in the number of HAP properties.
In the midlands, there are just over 2,400 HAP properties, with the highest number of 926 in Westmeath.
Laois have 836, while Offaly have 646.
At the end of last year there were just over 58,000 tenants in receipt of the Housing Assistance Payment.
That's down 4.3% on the figure in 2021, according to CSO figures.
