An Taisce says it's especially important in a year that's seen a massive surge in park visitors.
Four midlands parks have been awarded Green Flag status for 2020.
An Taisce says the award is the mark of a quality park or green space and is recognised throughout the world.
They're only awarded for exceeding tough environmental standards in green space management and excellence in visitor attractions.
Mullingar Town Park; Lloyd Town Park in Tullamore; People's Park, Portarlington; and Páirc an Phobail, Portlaoise are among 84 in Ireland to receive the accreditation for the year ahead.
