It's being distributed to large towns to offset the impact of the pandemic.
Four midlands towns are eligible for up to €40,000 in funding to offset the impact of covid-19.
The Minister for Rural and Community Development is urging 41 towns with a population of over 10,000 to apply for the Town and Village Renewal Scheme.
That includes Athlone, Mullingar, Tullamore and Portlaoise, with the money to go towards increasing footfall and social activity in towns and addressing social distancing measures.
Communities can submit their applications through their local authority by August 28th.
