It is in support of local businesses.
A midlands town is offering free public parking later this month to encourage people to shop local.
Westmeath County Council and Mullingar Chamber of Commerce are running the initiative on Friday 12th of May.
There will be no cost to park in any of the local authority car parks in Mullingar on that day.
However, paid parking will operate as normal on the main streets of the town where parking is limited to a maximum of two hours to ensure a turnover of vehicles.
