Freeze On Payments May Need To Extended To Safeguard Irish Pubs

The Offaly Vintners' Association is concerned for the future of the industry.

A freeze on payments to producers may need to be extended to safeguard the future of Irish pubs. 

Chair of the Offaly Vintners' Association John Clendennen also says a culture change amongst patrons is a concern for publicans going forward. 

The possibility of pubs not fully re-opening until a vaccine is available was raised by Health Minister during the weekend. 

Mr. Clendennen is unsure of the viability of licensed premises operating under social distancing guidelines published by the World Health Organisation:
