Over 22,000 households in the midlands are set to benefit from the Fuel Allowance Scheme.
The fuel allowance payment is designed to help pensioners and other long term social welfare recipients with the cost of heating their homes during the winter months.
8,289 Westmeath homes are in line for the grant, while 7,652 homes in Offaly and 6,767 in laois will be provided with payments.
Payments are set at €33 weekly, or in two lump sums of €462 each over the 28 week winter season.
