The service is set to face a major operating deficit for this year, without additional funding from the State.
The HSE says future funding for a midlands cancer support service will be considered next year.
Dóchas, in Tullamore, recently opted out of a meeting with the Health Service, as it says it was clear the topic of money was not up for discussion.
The charity is in need of up to €50,000, or it faces an operating deficit for 2023.
The HSE says funding for the service will be determined when the National Service plan for 2024 is agreed.
It also says it's extremely appreciative of the continued work undertaken by Dóchas and organisations like them.
