The Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise, has reported an improved compliance summary.
A Laois mental health facility has seen yet another improvement in compliance.
The 2023 Annual Report of the Department of Psychiatry at the Midland Regional Hospital, Portlaoise, has recorded a compliance summary of 92%
The Mental Health Commission's report has found an improved compliance summary when compared to 2022, when it was 86%
However, it did identify three areas of non-compliance during the inspection, one of which was labelled as 'high risk.'
That was in relation to the premises, as inspectors state it was not kept in a good state of repair externally and internally, with floors heavily pitted and cigarette butts and litter in the garden - however, there are plans in place to resolve those issues.
The report also says not all bathrooms and showers had locks on the doors, which was labelled as a 'low-risk' area of non-compliance, but those issues have already been resolved.
Residents at the facility said their bedrooms are perfect, they see their doctor regularly, they have space and privacy, and feel safe.
