Concerns of the facility's Emergency Department have been ongoing for years.
The Health Minister has re-iterated there are no plans to downgrade Portlaoise Hospital.
In response to a query from Laois Offaly Sinn Fein TD Brian Stanley regarding the future of the Emergency Department at the facility, Stephen Donnelly confirmed there has been no discussion of downgrading for the past two years.
He also revealed the investment budget for Portlaoise Hospital this year is €71 million, which is an increase of 11% from 2019.
