Gardaí Warned That Accepting Discounts And Gifts Is Corrupt

But one Offaly councillor says it's a storm in a teacup.

Gardaí are being warned that accepting gifts or discounts is classed as corruption.

A document has been circulated within the force, warning about engaging corrupt practices, according to the Irish Times.

It comes after the establishment of a new garda anti-corruption unit, and as the highest ever number of gardaí are suspended from duty.

But independent Offaly councillor and former garda, Ken Smollen, believes it's a storm in a teacup and distracts from real corruption:
