Garda Commissioner Playing Down 'Blue Flu' Prospects

The AGSI met in Westmeath earlier this week, and said they would hold a day of action next Monday.

The Garda Commissioner has played down any prospect of another 'blue flu.'

It's a type of strike action taken by gardai in which a large number simultaneously use sick leave.

After meeting in Athlone earlier this week, the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors said it would hold a day of action next Monday, in a row over new rosters for Gardai.

The ASGI threatened to consider all forms of industrial action if matters were not addressed sufficiently.

But Garda Commissioner Drew Harris says the matter has been referred to the Workplace Relations Commission:
