The home owner was sitting in the front room of the house when she heard two loud bangs at approximately 3am.
There was extensive damage to the front of the house but nobody was injured during the incident.
Gardaí wish to speak to anybody who was in the vicinity of Ballinasloe or may have dashcam footage between 2.30 and 3 o'clock Sunday morning.
