A man in his 80's died yesterday evening following the incident.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal Midlands crash.
The incident, involving a car and pedestrian, took place on Earl Street in Longford yesterday at around 10:00am.
The pedestrian, a man in his 80s was airlifted to Beaumont in a critical condition and was pronounced dead yesterday evening,.
A post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident and were travelling in the area between 9.45am and 10:15am to come forward.
