A man in his 70s died following the incident, involving a pedestrian and a lorry, on Chapel Lane, Mountmellick yesterday at around 5pm in the evening.
The driver of the lorry didn't require medical attention.
The road remains closed this morning as Garda Collision Investigators are due to examine the scene.
