The arrest was made by the Laois Roads Policing Unit last night.
Gardaí in Laois have arrested a motorist after they tried to avoid a checkpoint last night.
The driver then tested positive for cannabis, was discovered to be driving on a Learner's Permit, and did not have insurance.
A small quantity of cannabis was also found in the car.
