The incident happened at half three this morning.
Gardaí have been attending the scene of a car crash in Laois.
Abbeyleix and Rathdowney Gardai were alerted to the incident at half three this morning on the R435 Rathdowney to Johnstown Road.
The driver of the only car, a man in his 50's has been taken to St.Luke's Hospital in Dublin with non life threatening injuries.
Gardaí say they will be taking a standard blood sample to test for the presence of intoxicants.
The road has since been cleared and remains open.
