Gardai Awarded With Scott Bravery Medals

Retired Detective Chief Superintendent Patrick 'Mal' Shiel is getting the honor for his bravery in Monasterevin in 1975 .

10 Gardaí have been awarded with medals of bravery today.

A Scott Medal is the highest award that a member of the force can receive and is given to people who risked their lives while on duty.

Retired Detective Chief Superintendent Patrick 'Mal' Shiel was awarded two bronze Scott medals today for his bravery in Monasterevin Co Kildare in 1975 and in Glenageary Co Dublin in 1981.
