The incident led to a chase from Gardaí.
Gardaí are continuing to investigate an alleged burglary in Laois, which led to a Garda chase.
Officers responded to a report of the incident in the Whitefields housing estate in Portarlington at around 11am on Friday.
The black Audi A3 then fled the scene, with Gardaí in pursuit, before being involved with a collision with a jeep on Bracklone Street.
The occupants of the car, four men, then fled the scene on foot through fields in the town.
No injuries were reported in the crash.
Gardaí are asking anyone with any information that can assist them with the investigation to contact Portlaoise Garda Station.
