Gardaí Investigating Drowning In The Midlands

A man in his 30s lost his life last night.

A man in his 30s has drowned in the midlands.

It's understood he got into difficulty while swimming in the River Barrow in Graiguecullen last night - however, gardaí say they're investigating all circumstances surrounding his death.

It's understood bystanders attempted to help the man after he got into difficulty.

Emergency services attended at around 9.20 last night and efforts to revive the man were made, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was taken to University Hospital Waterford where a post-mortem will take place at a later date.
