Gardaí Renewing Appeal After Woman Foils Robbery Using Cans Of Fish

The incident occurred at a shop in Westmeath.

Investigations remain ongoing in Westmeath in relation to a theft that was foiled by a shop assistant throwing cans of fish at the intruder. 

Gardai believe the man was carrying a knife when he entered a service station in Mullingar on the 26th of February at 8.15pm, threatening staff and asking for money from the cash register. 

The woman in her 60s who was behind the counter began throwing objects at the man - who then fled in the direction of Ballinacargy.
