A former Garda Detective from Westmeath says the new regulations will assist investigators in their work.

People will have to give up their computer passwords if they’re house is subject to a search warrant.

New laws are being proposed that would mean Gardaí can make people reveal their passwords on mobiles or laptops so they can search their devices.

It’s part of a series of new reforms being proposed by the Justice Minister.
