Gardaí are facing calls to make use of the text alert service, following a spate of burglaries in the midlands.
Councillor John Dolan says there's been at least three or four incidents in Athlone in recent weeks.
He claims while Gardaí sometimes avail of the service, there's been a number of cases recently where details of nearby burglaries haven't been sent out.
