The Housing Minister says the council in question will have to do without State support.
The Housing Minister has confirmed there are no plans to provide additional support to a midlands local authority which was subject to a half a million euro payment fraud.
It was discovered last month Westmeath County Council was at a loss of €515,000 as a result of a third-party payment fraud.
An investigation is currently underway by Gardai.
In response to a Parliamentary Question by Longford Westmeath Sinn Fein TD Sorca Clarke, Housing Minister Darragh O’Brien says there are currently no plans to support the Council with additional finances.
