An Offaly Td says it will benefit local authorities.
The Government is expected to change how property tax is calculated in a bid to stop major increases.
Property prices have surged by around a quarter since 2021 leading to concerns taxes are also going to go up.
The Government is now going to change the way property tax is calculated - meaning homes valued at less than half a million euro will see bills increase by less than €23.
