Government Wants New Midlands Fire Station Delivered For Minimum Cost

There is local concern that inflation may undermine the development.

The Government says Offaly County Council has been advised to ensure the cost of developing a new midlands fire station doesn't exceed the minimum neccessary figure.

The local authority received funding to appoint a contractor for the new facility in Clara earlier this year.

Laois Offaly Independent TD Carol Nolan has called on the coalition to commit to adjusting the Capital funding for the project, if inflation drives up the cost of construction.
