Green Light For Major Laois Wastewater Upgrade

It will serve over 45,000 people for the next 25 years.

Planning permission is being granted to Uisce Éireann for a major wastewater upgrade in Laois.

The Portlaoise Wastewater Treatment Plant will expand capacity to serve a population equivalent of over 45,000 people for the next 25 years.

It aims to support housing growth while improving water quality in the River Triogue and meeting national and EU standards.

Minister James Browne says the investment is critical for sustainable development and environmental protection in the region.

The next stage of the development will be detailed design and construction.
