A Westmeath Castle has been given the green light for restoration and redevelopment.
Westmeath County Council granted permission to Sandy Lane Properties Ltd to renovate Knockdrin Castle near Mullingar.
The plans will transform the 19th-century Gothic Revival estate into a luxury hospitality and events venue with guest accommodation, dining facilities and restored gardens.
Permission includes retention of completed restoration works, upgrades to the castle, entrance lodges, parking, access roads and essential infrastructure.
Planning approval was granted subject to 15 conditions.
