The development also includes the provision of a new creche.
Plans for a massive housing development in the midlands have been given the green light.
Akiyda Limited has been granted planning permission for the provision of 332 homes in the Ballykeeran and Cornamaddy area of Athlone.
The development will comprise of 172 two-storey houses, which will be a mix of three and four-bedroom units, and 160 apartments and duplexes.
The planning file also includes the provision of a new two-storey creche in the area.
The developer had initially sought ten-year planning permission, but Westmeath County Council granted permission for five years.
It also says a development bond of €1.8 million must be paid before construction gets underway.
