Health Watchdog To Begin Inspecting Nursing Homes' Response To Covid-19

The manager of a private facility in the midlands is speaking out.

The health watchdog is to begin inspecting nursing homes around the country to tackle the spread of Covid-19.

HIQA is releasing a checklist today for nursing homes to adhere to prior to inspection.

Almost 60 percent of virus related deaths are linked to nursing homes and other residential settings.

The HSE is seeking voluntary redeployment of staff within the public health service, and nursing and healthcare assistants from agencies to go on rostered lines in the nursing homes for the duration of the pandemic.
