The midlands is under a status yellow thunderstorm warnings this morning.
A yellow alert will remain in place for Laois, Offaly, Westmeath and the rest of Leinster until 2pm this afternoon.
A separate yellow warning for Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Leitrim, Roscommon and Sligo is due to come into effect in around an hour's time.
Meanwhile the UK Met Office has also warned of thunderstorms for all counties in Northern Ireland until 9pm tonight.
Met Eireann are warning that heavy showers could bring localised flooding, lightning damage and difficult travelling conditions.
