HIQA Cites Offaly Care Centre Over Safeguarding Failures

Nua Healthcare will review its internal handover systems and broader safeguarding arrangements.

An Offaly care centre has been cited for failing to adequately protect its residents by the State's healthcare watchdog.

Auburn House, ran by Nua Healthcare Services Limited was found non-compliant for failing to inform a relief staff member of an active safeguarding plan in place to protect someone from another resident at the facility.

The unannounced HIQA inspection in April this year came on foot of unsolicited information on quality, safety and oversight of care provided at the centre.

Nua Healthcare is committed to reviewing it's internal handover systems as well as its overall safeguarding plan.
