She is known for filling in on Westmeath County Council for her Green Party colleague.
Housing, transport and childcare are some of the central elements of a Longford Westmeath candidate's campaign for the forthcoming general election.
Carol Okeke will be seeking a seat for the Green Party later this month.
Ms Okeke previously served on Westmeath County Council on an interim basis while former councillor Hazel Smyth was on maternity leave.
She wants to see a focus put on affordable housing to encourage younger people to live in more rural areas.
